Matchday 2 of the 2025 NISA Pro Cup is in the books with some intriguing results as teams push to advance to the semifinals on Sunday. Capo FC edged the Hailstorm in the final minutes. The Los Angeles Force needed to go to penalties to secure the extra point against Peak XI, and the Arkansas Wolves bounced back with a win against DC Hyper. Modesto City FC added more players to their roster as the rest of their squad arrived on Tuesday night, but they suffered a heavy 12-1 defeat to Sin City FC. Peak XI FC 1 Los Angeles Force 1 – LA Force defeats Peak XI FC 4-3 on penalties (Wednesday October 15)
The Los Angeles Force drew Peak XI FC 1-1 after 90 minutes of play at the Michigan Stars Sports Center Turf Field. Joel Quist scored the opening goal for the Force in the first half as LA held onto the lead through halftime. In the second half, Peak XI FC strikes back with an equalizer from Alpay Lazkano to level the match. We had to go to penalties to find a winner, and the Force pulled away with a 4-3 win in the shootout to secure the extra point. After two matches, LA leads Group A with 5 points while Peak XI FC is in fourth with 1 point. The Force will take on DC Hyper, and Peak XI FC will face the Arkansas Wolves FC tomorrow afternoon.
Capo FC 2 Northern Colorado Hailstorm 1 (Wednesday October 15)
We had a thriller at the Michigan Stars Sports Center Turf Field as Capo FC fought back to defeat the Northern Colorado Hailstorm 2-1 in stoppage time. It didn’t take long to wait for the first goal as Aaron Russ pulled the Hailstorm to an early lead. The Hailstorm held on to their 1-0 lead through halftime. In the second half, Parker Scalzo’s goal tied the match at 1-1. In stoppage time, Capo FC was given a penalty kick late in the match. Jonathan Estrada buries his penalty kick from the spot to seal the win for Capo FC and help his side earn three points and advance to the semifinals. After two matches, Capo FC is second in Group B with 4 points, while NOCO Hailstorm is third with 3 points. Capo FC will face Modesto City FC tomorrow morning, while the Hailstorm will battle Sin City FC tomorrow afternoon for the final semifinal spot in Group B.
Arkansas Wolves FC 3 DC Hyper 1 (Wednesday October 15)
The Arkansas Wolves bounced back from defeat on Matchday 1 and responded with a resounding 3-1 victory over DC Hyper at the Michigan Stars Sports Center Turf Field. After a scoreless first half, George Almeida scored twice for the Wolves. Hassan Elsayed pulled one back for DC Hyper, but in stoppage time, Daisuke Otsuka scored the insurance goal to give Arkansas their first win in the 2025 NISA Pro Cup. That result lifts the Arkansas Wolves to second place in Group A, while DC Hyper is third as both teams have three points. Arkansas will face Peak XI FC while DC Hyper takes on the Los Angeles Force tomorrow afternoon.
Modesto City FC 1 Sin City FC 12 (Wednesday October 15)
Sin City FC took care of business to stay unbeaten with a 12-1 victory over Modesto City FC at the Michigan Stars Sports Center Dome. Miguel Higareda scored four goals in this match for Sin City FC. Andy Rodriguez added one, and Roberto Soto and Duce Bell added two apiece as the Las Vegas side cruised in this matchup. Bubakarry Padika was the lone goalscorer for Modesto City. That huge win pulls Sin City to the top of Group B with 4 points, keeping them ahead of Capo FC, who are second with 4 points based on goal differential. Modesto City FC remains at the bottom of Group B with 0 points. Modesto City will close out its tournament run against Capo FC tomorrow morning, while Sin City FC takes on the Northern Colorado Hailstorm with a spot in the semifinals on the line tomorrow afternoon.
